And August (so far)

Couples...
Interior Designers...

Interior Design...And Zebras (that are too cool to be considered interior design).
Not represented in this month yet: The California wedding of Ken and Kristi (formerly seen HERE), a note about my photography being on display in the Spring Hill Starbucks, or any formal recognition of the magazine I've been shooting for (Society Life). I also haven't mentioned a few of the artists and bands I've shot recently... I'm so far behind!

Thursday, it's off to Dallas/Ft. Worth for the second Feedback Conference of 2008. I'll try to get a few more posts up while I'm there. Be sure to watch for a Mexican food update. I WILL eat Joe T. Garcia's while I'm there...

Andrea & Rich - Engagement

Andrea and my wife (the beautiful and talented Caroline) have known each other for YEARS. If I'm not mistaken, they met in elementary school had have been friends ever since. I don't have a single person in my life that I've remained friends with that long. Wow.

At any rate, they're getting married this winter, but wanted to get their engagement photos done in the spring/summer to provide a little counterpoint to the rest of the photos they'll end up with. A couple of weeks ago, we wandered out and about in Spring Hill in search of the perfect location. Boy did we find it! We found this field sitting right on the side of some back road that I don't think I would be able to find again if I tried. Not only was the grass GORGEOUS, but there was a GREAT old house up on the top of the hill.

Of course, the location wouldn't matter at all if they weren't comfortable. Lucky for me (them?) they were. Rich is a filmmaker, so he's pretty comfortable around cameras anyhow. And Andrea... well... I think she's comfortable in no matter where she is!

If you want to see more, the full gallery is HERE. Oh... and please excuse the first image of the gallery. It was too funny NOT to include and it just ended up as the first shot... that was NOT on purpose.

Jennifer and Andy

Saturday, Jennifer, Andy and I went trecking through a very gray Spring Hill in search of the right place to make some engagement photos. We ended up at a lotation that I had shot previously and liked very much. It looks like it was, at one time, both a home and a store.

Jennifer and Andy were so much fun to work with. They had me cracking up the whole time. To say they're quick witted would be a bit of an understatement. In spite of that humor, I still managed to get them with a straight face, once or twice...

If this shoot was any indication of what's in store for me, I CAN'T WAIT for the wedding!

April & Bryan

Bright and early Saturday morning, I met April and Bryan (and April's Dad!) in beautiful downtown Nashville for their engagement shoot. While I think all of us were suffering from some early morning lag, we managed to drag ourselves to the top of the Shelby Street walking bridge. After some fun technical difficulty (for the record, I'm only buying name brand batteries from now on), we got cranking.

I knew we got some great stuff, but sitting down and looking through them was still a surprise. There is some great stuff in there! There's nothing more fun than getting a surprise in the darkroom (or on the computer, in this case).

April and Bryan will say their "I do's" in March 08. Stay tuned to see her bridal portraits sometime soon...

Oh, and feel free to check out the entire gallery here!

Shannon and Turner's Engagement Shoot

Saturday night, the three of us made the trek up to the Parthenon in Nashville. It was warm, but not unbearably so, and the sun was just going down. It gave us exactly the right kind of light for what we were wanting. Turner and Shannon laughed through the entire shoot, hopefully a sign that they were having a good time!

We tried a couple of different, more unique shots this time around and I think we got some great results. If the amount of fun I had on this shoot is any indication, I can't wait to til their wedding in October!

Tim and Jessica

Sunday, I was afforded the privilege of photographing Tim and Jessica's engagement photos. It was a joy to spend a couple of hours with them. Engagement shoots are so much fun for me. I love watching young couples be young couples. I like watching the quiet moments they share. I like seeing the subtle ways they lavish attention on each other. I like catching the little looks meant only for the other. Most of all, I like photographing those moments!

If you'd like to see more of their engagement shoot, go here!
